Product Description

Product Description Want your kids to dance, learn exercise and have fun all at the same time? That s what Move 'N Groove Kids is all about! Move N Groove Kids is a creative movement program for children ages 2 to 7 years. Each episode is based on a curriculum developed by Deborah Damast a leading dance education expert who holds a faculty position at NYU s Steinhardt School of Education as Master Teacher of Dance Education. Deborah s dance curriculum and classes are highly acclaimed by teachers, parents, administrators at private studios, daycare centers and pre-schools. Move N Groove features live-action classroom-style learning with entertaining text and character animations that no kid can resist! Move N Groove Kids is designed to help children develop self-confidence, encourage healthy living and promote problem-solving skills. The program encourages team work, bridges language barriers and teaches vocabulary. Move N Groove encourages aesthetic appreciation and individual creative expression. And of course, it gives them plenty of opportunity to dance and jump around - just what kids love doing best. Move N Groove Kids is a dance and exercise video that teachers and parents can use both in-class and at home. Kids follow along to a comprehensive dance and fitness routine that introduces them to various types of movements while encouraging them to explore new and different ways of moving their own bodies. Each video starts off with a warm up, then moves into locomotor and non-locomotor movements. Kids then follow a series of aerobic dance exercises, and conclude with a relaxing cool-down segment. Deb is currently an adjunct professor in NYU s Dance Education Department and has been teaching Creative Movement in private studios, schools, and childrens programs in the New York area for the past ten years. Move N Groove Kids captures her highly acclaimed teaching practice on a video that s fun, engaging, and perfect for every child. The unique creative movement foundation of the Move N Groove Kids programs helps children develop in several ways. The interpretive exercises and fluid teaching style encourage individual creative expression, cognitive development, and self-confidence. The original music, written by acclaimed composers Cary Brown and Dan Schorr, together with the dance and creative movements introduced in the video, will broaden your child s aesthetic sensibility, and improve their flexibility and motor skills. It s a great way to foster a positive attitude towards health and exercise in every child. There are currently 3 titles in the series, Move N Groove Kids Volume 1, Move N Groove Kids go to the Zoo and Move N Groove Kids go to the Park. Review Dynamic and expert...Move N Groove uses creative movement and dance to develop children s cognitive, emotional, and physical capacities in fun, intelligent and integrated ways. --Edward Warburton, Ed. D, Director, Dance Education Program NYU, Steinhardt School of EducationMove N Groove Kids is wonderful! My son has loved going to Creative Movement classes and this tape now makes it possible to bring the joy of that experience right into our own living room. Kids this age are crazy about free-style dancing, but they also like the structure of following along with specific movements. This video marries these two concepts beautifully. --Nancy Meyer - Mother of Isaac, 4 years oldMy son can t sit still when Move N Groove Kids is on he s got to dance. It s everything an educational dance video should be. It is fun to watch and easy to learn. It is wellstructured, clear and really knowledgeable, yet it is irresistibly exuberant. --Marcelle Clements, Nationally Published Film and Television Critic, Mother of Luc, 8 years old About the Actor Deborah Damast, MA, began her dance training in Connecticut with the Ballet Etudes Repertory Company. My two-year-old loves the Move 'N Groove Kids series. She likes all three videos, but her favorite is the original, followed by the Zoo video, followed by this one.The graphics are done nicely, the kids are actively (and positively) involved in the dances/movements. It's not annoying to hear in the background like some videos, and you can feel good that even though your child is watching TV, he/she is also moving around and getting exercise.I used to be a dancer and dance educator, so I can say that what kids learn from the Move 'N Groove Kids videos is similar to what would be covered in a creative-movement or creative-dance class for pre-schoolers and younger elementary students. Deb knows what she's doing and the kids are learning much more from the movements than you would immediately assume. One thing I prefer about the original Move 'N Groove Kids video is that it was presented like an actual class. You could see the teachers demonstrating to the students, and see the students responding to the teacher. It was like being in the class yourself. The MNGK Go to the Park and Go to the Zoo videos do not show the instructor demonstrating the majority of the time. The full focus is on the kids, and it feels less like a class. While I can see some benefits to that, I really liked that my two-year-old was (unbeknownst to her) learning how to function in a class environment while she was dancing along with the original video. This is an awesome bonus! I do miss this in the second two MNGK videos, even though they are still very well done and full of fun and education.I highly recommend any of the videos in the Move 'N Groove Kids series, and this one is no exception!
